Getting garden ready

This last Christmas, Billy built me a second raised garden box for the back yard! This past weekend we finally got it ready to plant some seeds in. The boys all worked together to gopher proof the bottom and then fill it with dirt. Now all I need to do is buy some nice topsoil to finish it off. Our first garden box is still doing well, since winter was so mild, the cherry tomatoes are starting to ripen again and the bell peppers grew all winter long. We even got one yummy Kabocha squash mid winter that we baked up and ate with spaghetti one night.
It is so fun and nice to finally have a garden after the last couple of years just talking about it. I'm loving our functional back yard :)

Rock Message

The other day, the boys and I were on a walk and decided to hike up Snyder trail a little ways. Just as we were starting out, Billy & several co workers pulled up for their PT hike to the sign and back. Billy gave the boys high fives as he blew past us with the other guys ( they hike for time so there is no stopping to say much! ) The boys & I hiked up to the first water tanks and stopped to rest and play in the shade. I then got William and Zachary to help me gather lots of rocks, which they are VERY good at, and we made a message for Billy in the path. We made it pretty big and put in right in the middle of the path so that he couldn't miss it.

Well, when Billy got home from work that evening, William asked him "did you see your message out of rocks Dad?" Nope. Billy had not seen it! Ahh, oh well. I went up the next morning and took a few pictures (after I fixed it from being kicked around a little) so that Billy could see the message we left for him on his way down the hill. Oh well. It was fun to make anyway.

A Backpack for Zachary too

After I finished sewing William's backpack, he told me I needed to make one for Zachary too. I decided that was a good idea and got to work on backpack number two. I made them slightly different so they could tell them apart and had a much easier time putting this one together after the practice and deciphering of instructions the first time around. Zachary does not appreciate his back pack as much right now, but I know he will some day :) He needs to grow into it a little still.
I also completed my first crazy patch Christmas stocking a few weeks ago in sewing class. I want to make 6, so I figure if I start now, I should be able to get them done by Christmas. That is the goal anyway. I like the way it turned out and can't wait to have 6 matching stockings! Not that we will need 6 by Christmas, only 5, but you never know what the future might bring. I don't want to be short on stockings again like we were last year. :)

Fun little breakfast

William was sitting next to me a week or so ago as I was flipping through a parenting magazine and he saw a picture of a fun looking breakfast. He asked if I could make that for him, so I did my best. I baked up some zucchini muffins and went off that. He was so happy to eat his breakfast that next morning :) Zachary enjoyed it as well, but he just loves food period.

Count down

9 weeks and counting until we get to meet baby boy #3. Who still needs a name....
We have talked a lot about Jameson. (although i feel that would be a more appropriate name in Jamie's family:) It's so hard to name a child, let alone pick their birthday.
I am not looking forward to surgery. I am looking forward to being in the new hospital though. Still need to take a tour. In the mean time, grow baby grow. Can't wait to meet my little kicker.
